Vroom, Vroom!

This past weekend gold medals were won by 1/100 of a second and life-long dreams came true by just 21 inches.  At the rink in McCall Salvador skated five times around the ice with a bucket in front, mom behind and just 20 minutes on the clock. 

This is Salvador.  He is about five stacked-buckets tall and celebrating his first day on skates.  We joined other shufflers, sliders and skaters at the Manchester Ice and Event Centre this weekend.  In the end - and perhaps the best part of it all - Sal's lap time improved with his feet out in front, the pedal to the ice and cruising in the back seat.  "Vroom, Vroom," cheered Sal.

If you haven't been to the Manchester ice rink yet, check it out - even if only for a hot chocolate on the bleachers with a spectacular view of Payette Lake.  OR lace up as part of the Shore Lodge's Winter Wonderland Package and combine it with snow tubing or elk viewing for a glimpse at what makes McCall so magical.

Six More Weeks of Winter!

This morning the groundhog saw its shadow and I woke up to morning glory in McCall.  Those who complain we are doomed with 6 more weeks of winter are the unfortunate ones.  Fortunately for me & my friends we have access to skiing, riding, snowmobiling and other winter splendors in the backyard. Old Man Winter is welcome in McCall!

Powder Shots & Cookies on the Shuttle Home!

 

The new year’s weather outlook for McCall is looking very good for skiers and riders.  Tonight I’ll be spending time with family and friends – and we’ll be doing our snow dances at the Shore Lodge’s annual New Year’s Eve Party.  It’s going to be a late night, but I wouldn’t be getting much sleep anyway in anticipation of skiing tomorrow.  Four to eight additional inches are forecasted overnight!!!

 

Perhaps Theodor Seuss Geisel had something in common with me (All Seasons Ali) and everyone else who will be loading the Bluebird Chair at Brundage Mountain tomorrow morning.  “You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams,” said Dr. Seuss.  Perhaps he too was in love with powder days – and the day after, and the day after that in McCall, Idaho when you’re still getting major freshies on the mountain.

  

My skis were just waxed by Pro Peak Sports, I have my pass and I am signed up for the 9:00am shuttle ride to Brundage.  It's the Shore Lodge's newest amenity with ski and snowboard racks – and good company amongst two-plankers, riders, free-heelers and others who earlier dreamt of the first turns to be made in 2010.
